Primary school children at several schools in the East Riding's area are to receive the benefit of tutoring in a series of recycling workshops and 'eco days' to be run by East Riding Council.
A guest appearance by ERYC, the composting bear, or ERYCA, the recycling bear, can also be arranged.

Waste and recycling officers from the council will visit schools to partake in assemblies, environment afternoons, eco-days, assist with composting clubs, and give talks on relative areas of the curriculum.

According to current information, the schools taking part to date include Kingsway, Newport, Thorngumbald and Marshlands primary schools.
Becky Cardwell, ERYC waste and recycling officer, said: “We recently invited schools to contact us so we can help with a whole range of activities to help students understand the importance of preventing waste.
Any school that has not been in contact with us is welcome to join the programme. We always visit a school on dates and times to suit them.”

The council’s officers also give talks to community groups and organisations.

To book a visit, email becky.cardwell@eastriding.gov.uk or call (01482) 395631.
